Frayed ScionAn MMORPG in development Join the Fire
Night in the clearing: a fire in a ring of stones, three figures around it, and a lamp on its post at the edge of the dark.

Frayed Scion

An MMORPG in development. One persistent world. Three playable peoples. No release date; we will not invent one.

This is everything the camp says, in text.

The fire is still lit

Three at the fire tonight, and room at it for a fourth.

Up the valley the lamps are going out in order. Nobody here can say why.

Three peoples. No two agree.

Not beasts, not costumes. Neighbours.

All three take any calling: Berserker, Witch, Hunter. Men and women of each are playable.

Tigerian — highland-born; their ground the Highland Holds. Nearest the flame, on the left.

Zu'bat — hears you long before it sees you; their ground the Sinkhole Warrens. Across the fire, at the centre.

Rah'nas — came up from the water; their ground the Drowned Coast. On the right, nearest the way out.

The path goes down

The Long Stair is the way down: two and a half kilometres of rope, stone and lamplight. It already exists in the build — walkable end to end.

The valley it falls through is Lampfold: Hilltep Court, The Watch, Ropewalk, The Broken Locks, Kiln Camp, Zuna-hal. One place carries no name — no record, still water, the dogs will not drink.

Past Lampfold is the Fallow, wider than one valley. Zones are raised one at a time.

Something is taking the lamps

On festival night the lane above the valley is strung with lamps. This year they are going out — one at a time, in order, from the far end, toward the village.

Nothing is broken. No glass on the ground. The brackets are not even bent.

The dogs will not walk past the twelfth post.

Eight lamps remain on the lane.

We are not going to explain it, because nobody in the valley can.
